Founder and CEO

Michael has been dispensing hearing aids since 1988 when he was an apprentice for his family business in Illinois. He has served patients in Illinois, Florida, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. As a former field representative for Widex and Siemens, he has had the benefit of working with other hearing aid specialists, audiologists, and Ear, Nose & Throat physicians across the nation. As a Regional Director for both Siemens and Starkey, Michael was able to share his knowledge and expertise with others. He has been a guest lecturer at many Universities, Rotary Clubs, Senior Centers and Elder Care residences. He has taught on various hearing-related subjects at numerous dispenser training functions and has mentored many new dispensers.

April has been in the healthcare field for over 17 years and is licensed in the states of New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut. Early on in her career while working in home care, she observed that many people with a hearing loss were experiencing isolation from being disconnected from their loved ones and the community. It became her passion to do something about it when she had her own personal hearing loss experience with a family member. Her clients notice the difference her lived experience this makes in her approach. April takes the time to truly understand what is important to her clients and treats each one with the same compassion, care, and professionalism she would a family member.

Partner, Cape Cod & The Islands

Shawn grew up in South Florida and graduated from Florida Atlantic University. He went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard for 12 years, spending his last 9 years of service on Cape Cod. His passion for solving problems and helping people led him to into the hearing healthcare profession. Shawn previously worked for Beltone, an international hearing aid dispensing company, where he successfully fit hundreds of clients with the best hearing instruments for their unique needs. He also gives informational talks and training to caregivers, family members, and professionals about hearing aid use, maintenance, and expectations.

Lauren has been licensed for 11 years, starting her career as an apprentice with Michael Schmit. In 2019, she joined the At Home Hearing Healthcare family, drawn to the company’s patient advocacy, service-focus mission that aligns with her values and personal experience. In her youth, Lauren lost her hearing from an illness. Growing up in a small town, her loss went largely undetected until it began to interfere with her life. Additionally, she felt exhausted from straining to hear. She compares her hearing loss to living in a snow globe, withdrawn from the world all around her. She received treatment in her late teens, breaking the snow globe to reengage in life. Lauren’s journey and compassionate teaching approach allows her to connect with patients and their loved ones. We regularly receive customer feedback complimenting her patience, thoroughness, and kindness.

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Alex spent his formative years moving throughout the East Coast. His travels sparked a love of people, which grew into a passion for helping people, ultimately leading to a career in the hearing field. As a lifelong learner, he has fervently dedicated himself in the hearing industry over the past eight years. His passion has led to him to becoming Board Certified, Tinnitus certified, and a dementia practitioner. Alex is dedicated to hearing health education and improving his customers’ hearing however possible.

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Mara, a native to Massachusetts, has worked in the field for the past 4+ years with licenses in the states of Arizona and Massachusetts. Her lifelong passion is helping people improve their lives through health. She directed this passion toward the hearing healthcare field after watching many of her family members affected by hereditary hearing loss struggle with finding good care. Using her personal experience with hearing loss, she cares for all her customers as she would like her family cared for.
